The database on the Housing HUB covers many areas of affordable housing and related issues. Although some of the articles and reports are accessible by the general public, many are not and are restricted by paywalls. These articles are from academic journals and require access by obtaining a guest pass at one of the university libraries listed below OR by using the copyright-infringing website Sci-Hub www.sci-hub.41610.org. Here is a great article by the Toronto Star explaining what Sci Hub is all about. Alternatively, please feel free to contact me and I will help you get whatever you’re looking for.
To use SCI-HUB, enter the URL or DOI code of the journal article you are after – these codes are found on the publisher’s website, under the citation of the article in question, or in many of the citations I have listed on the Housing HUB’s database of articles at the end of their citations.
As to accessing articles at academic institutions, anyone with government issued ID (with the exception of health cards) can access the library databases of York University and the University of Toronto. In the case of the University of Toronto libraries, a credit card is accepted as ID (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express).
